Neurology Nursing
Neurology nursing boasts a robust and incredible team of nurses caring for patients with a wide variety of neurological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. We run a myriad of nurse-led services that aim to provide excellent tertiary care to our patients.
The different types of services include:
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
A specialty nurse-led programme where nurses are trained to do physical assessment, propose investigations and treatment plans for patients suspected of TIA at our Emergency Department. They work hand in hand with our neurologists to provide management, education and follow-up.
Neurology Nurse-led Multidisciplinary meeting
An inpatient service where nurses lead discussions with doctors and allied health colleagues on end to end management for our patients. It allows for a shared platform to address patients' issues as a team and devise integrated and patient-centred care plans.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Led TIA Clinic
Our neurology APN runs the Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) Clinic. Clinical assessments, chronic disease screening and holistic medical/nursing management are provided to patients with the aim to reduce and optimise their long-term stroke risk and chronic health.
Movement Disorder Clinic
An APN-led clinic focusing on patients with Parkinson's Disease, atypical parkinsonism and dystonia. The APN takes history, examines for symptoms and optimises patient's health via medication titration, lifestyle and dietary counselling.
University Brain Health Unit
A unique service run together with neurologist, psychiatrist, clinical psychologist and APN. Collaboratively, they provide extensive evaluation of the patient's cognitive history and recommend investigations, treatment plan, and long-term follow up. Our aim is to provide holistic care and improve quality of life for our patients and their caregivers.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) - Led Epilepsy Clinic
An outpatient clinic that reviews patients with seizures and epilepsy where our APN provides clinical review, medication titrations, thorough counselling and education. Our aim is to empower our patients to better manage their condition.
