The
NUH Community Eye Clinics (CEC) was launched in August 2018
to make eye care services more accessible to
patients.
The clinics are managed by optometrists and coordinators from
the NUH
Eye Surgery Centre. CECs can diagnose, treat and monitor patients with stable
and non-complex eye problems, so that patients do
not have to travel to the hospitals for their appointments. The CECs
are able to detect patients with critical
eye conditions and refer them to the hospitals
for further
treatment. CECs patients who are referred by NUH Eye Surgery Centre can be referred back to NUH if their condition worsens or require specialised treatment.
We
also
actively engage and educate our patients on how to care for their eyes and
prevent eye diseases through community eye screenings.
CECs
patients have to be referred from the following:
- Polyclinics and selected primary
care partners
- The Singapore Diabetic Retinopathy
Programme (SiDRP)
- Eye departments
in hospitals
- Community functional screening programme
