Circumcision is an operation to remove the foreskin, a flap of skin that covers the end of the penis.
Men undergo circumcision in cases of tight foreskin (phimosis), recurrent infections (balanitis), or for social/religious reasons.
Circumcision is carried out as a day surgery procedure either under General Anaesthesia or Local Anaesthesia.
The operation usually takes half an hour. The local anaesthetic injected can wear off after 6 to 8 hours.
You will be prescribed with painkillers, and topical medication for wound care. Wound care will be advised by your doctor. The sutures used are dissolvable and do not require removal.
