Midwife-Led Clinic
The midwife-led clinic offers comprehensive care for expectant mothers throughout pregnancy and into the postpartum period. Run by registered midwives, the clinic supports women with low-risk pregnancies between 24 and 39 weeks of gestation, focusing on the health and well-being of both mother and baby.
Working with the obstetricians, the clinic adopts a patient-centred approach to journey with the mother and provides personalised monitoring, antenatal assessments, and education.
Referrals to the midwife-led clinic are made by the obstetrician to ensure mothers receive holistic care and seamless support throughout their journey.
Here, expectant mothers will receive regular consultations by a midwife who will:
- Provide assessment, and manage patient and fetal well-being
- Discuss any concerns relating to pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, and postnatal care
- Review all existing medications that the mother is taking to ensure safe medication management during pregnancy
- Carry out various tests, which are reviewed with the doctor, to ensure the well-being of mother and child. These tests include blood pressure checks, urine tests, fundal height measurement and fetal heart auscultation
If needed, the midwife can also arrange for referrals to additional support services such as a medical social worker, dietitian, or professionals from the Women's Emotional Health Service (WEHS).
Community Antenatal Programme
The Community Antenatal Programme, offered by the National University Centre for Women and Children (NUWoC) aims to equip parents with knowledge and practical tips for their parenthood journey.
Our comprehensive syllabus, specifically designed for families in Singapore, covers the entire spectrum of pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care and parental wellness. Taught by healthcare professionals specialising in obstetrics, paediatrics, physiotherapy and psychiatry, participants can expect an all-rounded learning experience.
Both NUH and non-NUH patients are welcome to sign up.

Pre-Registration Service: Streamlining Your Admission Process
From your 28th week of pregnancy, our pre-registration service ensures a smooth and hassle-free admission process for your delivery.
You will receive all the necessary documents for direct admission and can bypass the usual administrative procedures and proceed directly to the Delivery Suite on your day of delivery.
Patients are required to make a deposit based on the entire estimated bill size. This deposit is typically collected during your clinic visit following financial counselling (conducted between 28 to 32 weeks of pregnancy), where the estimated costs based on your mode of delivery will be provided.
Labour and Delivery
Every delivery is unique, and we provide personalised care to ensure a safe birthing experience for all our patients.
Vaginal Birth
Our delivery suite is fully air-conditioned and furnished with all the necessary equipment required for your delivery. Our team of experienced obstetricians, anaesthesiologists, midwives and nurses will closely support and guide you through the labour process. Pain relief options are available to help you with the management of labour pain.
Here, fetal monitoring will also be conducted to measure your baby’s heartbeat and your contractions to help your care team assess and ensure your baby’s well-being.
Caeserean Section
A Caesarean section (C-section) is a surgical procedure involving an incision through the abdomen and uterus to deliver the baby.
A planned C-section may be recommended if a vaginal birth poses potential risks to the mother or baby, while an emergency C-section may be required if there are complications that arise during labour.
Our surgical team is equipped with the skills and equipment to ensure a safe procedure for both mother and baby. We also provide post-operative care to support your recovery.

Postnatal Support
After your delivery, our team will provide you with the guidance on breastfeeding, neonatal jaundice, family planning, and newborn care.
NUH has been a Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI)-certified hospital since 2013. We encourage skin-to-skin contact and the initiation of breastfeeding with your newborn as soon as possible after birth. In addition, we recommend that your baby room-in with you during your entire stay.
To ensure that your baby gets a healthy start in life, newborn screening will be carried out for early detection of health problems. Vaccinations will also be administered according to the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule.
Upon discharge, you will be provided with a set of postnatal advice to help you navigate recovery, breastfeeding and newborn care.
