Living with a genetic condition is a lifelong journey, one that often involves both you and your family. With the right guidance and support, you don’t have to navigate this journey on your own.

The National University Centre for Genomic Medicine (NUGEM) is a centre at the National University Hospital (NUH) that helps bring genomics into everyday care. We make it easier for people to access the right tests, and ensure results are used safely, consistently and effectively by care teams across the National University Health System (NUHS).

Why Genomics and Precision Medicine Matters?

Genomics helps us understand health at a deeper level. It can find answers for people who remain undiagnosed, guide more personalised, predictive and preventive care for inherited conditions, and improve medication safety.

When patients and families are fully informed beforehand, genomic information can reveal health risks earlier, allow relatives to be screened, and support research that improves diagnosis and guidance for future families.

At a national level, Singapore’s precision medicine efforts are building knowledge that will improve care for today’s patients and future generations. If you’re interested in what this means for Singapore, you can learn more about the National Precision Medicine (NPM) Programme here.
