The National University Spine Institute (NUSI) provides surgical and non-surgical treatment of all types of spinal pathologies. These include:
• Degenerative lumbar spinal disorders, such as spinal stenosis, prolapsed disc, degenerate disc and spinal instability
• Complex cervical spine pathology, such as cervical myelopathy, radiculopathy and ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL)
• Spine fracture and spinal cord injury
• Spinal infections
• Primary and secondary tumours of the spine
• Complex spinal deformity with scoliosis deformities in children and adult
All patients treated by NUSI receive a comprehensive integrated and multidisciplinary plan of care. The range of spine procedures performed in NUSI include:
• Minimally invasive spinal surgery, such as microscopy assisted, tubular and endoscopy
• Computer navigation for spine surgery
• Robotic spine surgery
• Artificial disc replacements
• Lumbar spinal fusion surgery
• Cervical spinal surgery
• Complex spinal deformity correction in children and adults
• Spinal tumour surgery
• Vertebral augmentation using vertebroplasty / kyphoplasty
• Treatment of sports injuries of the spine
Within this broad scope of capabilities in spine surgery, NUSI has defined 6 Pillars of Excellence.
These are:
1. Paediatric Spine and Scoliosis Surgery – including deformity correction and growing spine non-fusion technologies for children, such as growing rod insertion, Magec, Scoli-tether and Apifix spine procedures
2. Spine tumour surgery
3. Endoscopic spine surgery
4. Complex adult deformity surgery
5. Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Technology-Assisted Spine Surgery - including navigated, robotic and Augmented Reality spine surgery
6. Spinal Cord Injury repair
