The NUGEM Research Incubator Laboratory, based at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, is a dedicated hub focused on tackling complex medical questions that cannot be answered by routine tests. By developing and evaluating next-generation genomic technologies, the laboratory helps push the boundaries of what is possible in genomic medicine.
Through this work, we support the National University Health System’s genomics programme by enabling more accurate diagnoses, uncovering new disease mechanisms, and contributing meaningfully to the global scientific community in genomics and precision medicine.
As new technologies and methods mature, successful innovations from the Incubator are carefully translated into clinical laboratories as validated genomic tests, making them available as part of standard care for our patients. Our efforts covers both germline and somatic variants, spanning common and rare conditions.
NUGEM also serves as an important bridge between frontline clinical teams and researchers. By fostering creative and agile collaboration, we bring challenging clinical problems to the laboratory and apply science to find answers that matter to patients and their families.
