It is important to avoid direct sun exposure for several weeks following the laser treatment. Patients are advised to apply moisturizers and sun blocks daily. They should refrain from using scrubs until after the 4th day. Some patients may experience transient hyper pigmentation (skin darkening) or hypo pigmentation (skin lightening) on the treated areas, which will usually resolve in several months.
Scarring is rarely observed and infection, changes in pigmentation, delayed healing and other risks are uncommon but possible.
