Critical Care Nephrology
Patients may suffer Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) for a variety of reasons. Some have kidney injury with infections, surgeries, or adverse effects of medications. Some are severely ill with multi-organ problems in the Intensive Care Unit. Hospitalized patients with AKI have a high risk of an adverse outcome. Our doctors perform a variety of support therapies for these patients including continuous renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis, hemofiltration or hemodiafiltration), slow continuous ultrafiltration, and plasma exchange.
