Internship Testimonials

Here's what our Interns have to say about their experience:

I'm ecstatic to be interning at NUH, Singapore's first university hospital! NUH's prestigious reputation brings together a diverse range of patients, top-notch medical professionals and cutting-edge technologies. It's the ideal environment for immersing myself in the healthcare industry and gaining invaluable insights.

From assisting with patient registration and appointment scheduling to navigating the complexities of billing, I'm involved in every step of the patient journey. The energy at NUH is infectious, and the support from the exceptional team of PSAs is unparalleled. Their unwavering dedication inspires me to push my limits and commit to providing incredible care. I wholeheartedly recommend NUH as the go-to organisation for students considering internship opportunities. It's a place where you will grow both personally and professionally, and have the chance to make a significant impact.

-  Yeo Min Hui Beverly, Year 3, Health Services Management

I am the only one in my internship group from a different course programme, which initially made me nervous as I was unfamilar with the healthcare industry. I was concerned about the challenges that I might face in my role as a PSA. However, I received unwavering support and guidance from my peers, mentors and medical professionals I worked alongside.

During my internship at Medicine Clinic, I gained knowledge of medical terminologies, various diagnoses and treatment methods. Furthermore, I had a memorable encounter with a patient whom I assisted. They expressed gratitude for the help I provided, which was incredibly rewarding. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to learn and experience so much in the healthcare field and I look forward to more experiences like this!

- Norfarafina Bte Sabtu, Year 3, Customer Experience Management

When I first joined NUH as an intern, it was a random assignment, but it turned out to be a defining experience for me. My journey at NUH has been rich with valuable experiences—both good and challenging. From each encounter, I have learnt and grown, developing the confidence to communicate effectively with patients. During my internship, I worked in the Eye Clinic, where the incredible doctors inspired me to stay. Their encouragement and trust in allowing me to manage rooms played a significant role in my decision to pursue this career path.

Being in healthcare brings me immense satisfaction as I serve others. Now, as a Senior Patient Service Associate, I find fulfilment in mentoring new interns and PSAs. Seeing their growth and success is truly rewarding. Despite the increased responsibilities and demanding daily workload, I am content with my role. My advice to future interns is simple: Don't hesitate, take the leap and embrace this extraordinary journey at NUH. You'll be amazed at the transformation that awaits you!

- Sarah Qurratu'aini Binte Sudin, Senior Patient Service Associate, Eye Surgery Centre (Graduate Batch of January 2017)

When I started my internship at NUH in September 2020 in the Urology Centre, everything felt overwhelming. The medical terminologies, diagnoses and various tests were all new to me. Memorising these information and understanding the different treatment charges seemed daunting. However, the immense support and guidance from the medical professionals around me were invaluable. Their teachings and encouragement strengthened my resolve to provide the best care to patients.

This experience has honed my ability to manage challenging patients. My ultimate goal is to become a resource for my colleagues, assisting them in dealing with difficult situations. My motto throughout this journey has been simple: Don't be scared, be courageous in trying new things. This mindset has enabled me to continuously learn and grow, expanding my skills and knowledge in healthcare.

I am grateful for the opportunities and mentorship I have received at NUH. It has been a transformative experience. To all aspiring interns, I encourage you to embrace the challenges, seek support when needed and always be open to exploring new horizons.
