The Podiatry Section in the NUH Department of Rehabilitation is a leading provider of comprehensive services for patients. Our highly-trained podiatrists diagnose, treat, and prevent disorders of the foot and ankle. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, our treatment focus includes:
• Biomechanical assessment and treatment of foot and lower leg conditions (including gait analysis and orthoses provision)
• Diabetes foot care – assessment and prevention
• Wound care (including advanced therapies such as negative pressure wound therapy and maggot debridement)
• Skin and nail conditions e.g., ingrown toenails
• Paediatric foot and lower limb conditions
Podiatrists work closely with the Vascular, Orthopaedics, and Endocrine teams to provide holistic care for patients with foot and leg conditions. Additionally, they work alongside other allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, in addressing biomechanical disorders of the feet and legs.
Our podiatrists’ involvement in research projects, such as pressure analysis of the feet for patients with diabetes, showcases our commitment to advancing podiatry. We are also involved in national efforts to train nurses in diabetes foot care education and screening. There are also opportunities for undergraduate Podiatry programme students to undergo clinical placements with us.
