The Department of Paediatric Surgery at NUH offers the following training opportunities:
Advanced Surgical Training
A three-year training programme for those who have completed and exited from a General Surgery Residency Programme (ACGME-I).
Paediatric Surgery Surgery-in-General
This six-year Paediatric Surgery (PS) Surgery-in-General (SIG) training programme includes various rotations as outlined below.
SIG R1
Rotation: General Surgery*
Duration: 12 Months
SIG R2 & PS R3
Rotation: PS-specific electives
Duration: 3 + 3 months for any of the elective rotations (choose 2 of the 3 options)
- Emergency Medicine or Children's Emergency
- Anaesthesia or Paediatric Anaesthesia
- Paediatric Medicine
Rotation: Urology
Duration: 6 months
Rotation: Thoracic
Duration: 6 months
Rotation: General Surgery*
Duration: 6 months
*General Surgery includes sub-specialties recognised by the Singapore Accreditation Board as general surgery (i.e. Breast, Hepatopancreatobiliary, Upper GI, Vascular, Colorectal, Trauma, Head & Neck Surgery)
PS R4, R5 & R6
Core training in Paediatric Surgery with elective and emergency ward, clinic, and operating theatre experience.
