This is a 12-month paid clinical fellowship in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at NUH, offering both basic and advanced training in Paediatric Critical Care. Outstanding basic trainees may be considered for an additional 12-month advanced training. Candidates must have qualifications registrable with the Singapore Medical Council.
The PICU at NUH is a mixed medical and surgical unit, comprising 18 single-bedded rooms (11 PICU beds, 7 HD beds), with specialized facilities including negative and positive-pressured isolation rooms for immunocompromised patients. We offer a comprehensive range of mechanical ventilatory support, including non-invasive ventilation, high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy and high frequency oscillatory ventilation.
Established in 2009, our paediatric Extracorporeal Life Support (ECMO-Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Programme, along with renal dialysis (Continuous Veno-venous Haemodialysis or Haemofiltration) and the Molecular Adsorbent Recirculating System (MARS) for mechanical liver support, serve as vital support modalities in the PICU. These advanced techniques are often utilised as bridging solutions to liver transplants.
The range of paediatric surgical subspecialities in our unit includes cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, complex reconstructive plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery and general paediatric surgery. Furthermore, our facilities are integral to the National Paediatric Programmes for Liver and Renal Transplantation, marking our centre as the sole institution in Singapore dedicated to managing paediatric solid organ transplantation. Our consultants also manage moderate sedation, home care and transport services.
Interested candidates are invited to send their CV to Mr Allen Teo at [email protected].
