Dr Ooi Li Yin received her medical degree and PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. She subsequently underwent specialist training in histopathology at the National University Hospital, Singapore, before obtaining fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
