Biosketch

Dr Leong Wei Qi graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore in 2016. She completed her general surgery residency training at the National University Hospital, during which she attained her Master of Medicine (Surgery) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and was accredited as a Specialist in General Surgery by the Specialist Accreditation Board.

Dr Leong’s sub-specialty interest is in oncoplastic breast surgery, which balances cosmetic outcomes with oncologic safety to provide the most holistic outcomes in women affected with breast cancer. Her scope of practice also includes benign breast diseases, general surgery, and endoscopy.

Besides clinical work, Dr Leong is a strong believer in educating the next generation of medical professionals, and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education. She served as a clinical tutor during her training years, and is currently a clinical lecturer for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Outside of the hospital, she believes in utilising her skills to benefit the underprivileged and has been avidly participating in surgical and medical mission trips to provide care to people in need in developing countries since 2011.
