Dr Alphonsus Chong Khin Sze is an Associate Professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicince. He is the "research engine" of the department. He was awarded the A*STAR scholarship in 2004 and completed a two-year research fellowship in Stanford University. His research interests include basic science topics like the affect of stem cell therapy on tendon healing and tissue engineering for tendon grafts.

A graduate of the National University of Singapore, Associate Pofessor Alphonsus Chong got his specialist accreditation in Hand Surgery in 2004. He is an avid photographer and can be found on outings with his vast array of camera equipment and accessories, which he uses to photograph subjects like nature and buildings, as well as his family. Despite his perpetually furrowed brow, which makes him appear forever deep in thought, Associate Professor Chong is an extremely warm person with a good sense of humour.
