Biosketch

​Assistant Professor Celene Ng Wei Qi obtained her medical degree from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2011. She went on to complete her training in general surgery as a resident at the National University Hospital. She obtained the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016.

Asst Prof Ng was awarded the Human Manpower Development Programme Scholarship and completed her Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Training in 2021/2022 in the Nottingham Breast Institute, United Kingdom where she was able to formally train under both Plastic Surgery and Breast Surgery to be proficient in the whole scope of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. She has also been invited to be a Member of the International Post Graduate Deanery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

She has maintained her skills and expertise in general surgery and endoscopy as a means to be able to provide holistic care for her patients.

She has a sub-speciality interest in the field of breast surgery with a research and personal interest in the primary prevention of breast cancer and has contributed a book chapter on the subject. She has also published various cancer and general surgery articles in peer-reviewed research journals. Her passion is to enable and equip women to care for their health by changing the public perception of breast cancer. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and participating in humanitarian projects.

As the previous Deputy Undergraduate Director of Phase III Surgery, she was pivotal in developing new teaching methods and establishing hybrid learning to ensure that the students' curriculum was not disrupted from COVID-19. She went on to receive numerous teaching awards for her efforts in undergraduate education.
