Clinical education is at the core of the department with more than 3000 student-days dedicated to training and developing allied health students every year. Many of our allied health professional (AHP) staff have joint appointment faculty or associate faculty status on AHP programmes at the National University of Singapore and Singapore Institute of Technology. We are committed to the development of future AHPs who bear the NUHS core values of teamwork, respect, integrity, compassion, excellence, and patient-centredness for Singapore.
For aspiring AHPs, we partner with Singapore Institute of Technology and the National University of Singapore to provide clinical practice education. These clinical placements provide hands-on experience in clinical settings under the guidance of experienced mentors. Individuals have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, honing their clinical skills and developing a deeper understanding of patient care.
AHPs who are keen to specialise as clinical educators are also provided opportunities to upgrade their skills and knowledge. The support and funding given for advanced certifications, postgraduate degrees, and specialised training programmes allow us to ensure that we always deliver high quality clinical education to our students and junior colleagues. These opportunities may include post graduate courses in curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies tailored to clinical education settings.
