Biosketch
Dr Tan is a General Surgeon, specialising in Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery.
He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2007. He completed his Surgical Residency in the National Healthcare Group (NHG), during which he obtained his Masters of Medicine (Surgery) in 2015 and received his Specialist Accreditation in 2017.
In 2019, Dr Tan was conferred the Human Manpower Development Program Award from the Ministry of Health for a fellowship in Minimally Invasive HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation in Seoul National University Hospital, South Korea.
He is currently a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, UK; the American College of Surgeons; and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Prior to his appointment at the National University Hospital, Dr Tan was Head of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, and Deputy Head of the Department of General Surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He is currently the Secretary of the Hepato-pancreato-biliary Association of Singapore.
Dr Tan is active in teaching medical students, and believes strongly in educating and teaching the next generation of doctors and surgeons. For his work and dedication, he has garnered several teaching awards, including the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Special Recognition Award, and the NUS Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence.
