Dr Gareth Turner is a Senior Consultant in Histopathology with subspeciality interests in Urological and Haematopathology. He trained in Cambridge and then Oxford, and have previously worked mainly in the UK in Oxford, where he qualified FRPath in Histopathology as a Wellcome Trust Research then Career Development Fellow and a Clinical then Senior Lecturer in NDCLS, gaining a PhD in Malaria research and running a research group as part of the Oxford Tropical Network. He spent time working in Vietnam, South Africa before qualifying FRCPath and working first in Cambridge then Oxford as a Consultant in Urological/Renal and transplant pathology. He then became director of Translational Pathology for the NIHR/NDCLS in Oxford, before spending 5 years in the Oxford-Mahidol research unit (MORU) in Bangkok as Director of Pathology / Visiting Professor of Tropical Pathology and a PI in NDM. He returned and respecialised in Haematopathology for 7 years before joining National University Hospital. He has research interests in the pathology and pathophysiology of infectious diseases, providing pathology support for cancer research projects, and applications of digital pathology and AI in diagnostics, specifically in Haematopathology. He is a member of BAUP, BLPG, and BDIAP.
