Biosketch

Adjunct Associate Professor Lu Jirong graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2009. He completed his Urology Residency training at the National University Hospital and received specialist accreditation in Urology in 2019. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in Urology.

Under the NUH Learning Development Award, A/Prof Lu subsequently undertook fellowship training in Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience in living- and deceased-donor kidney transplantation and advanced minimally invasive urologic surgery. He is a Diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the Area of Focused Competence in Solid Organ Transplantation.

A/Prof Lu manages a broad range of urological conditions, with particular interests in kidney surgery and transplantation. His clinical practice focuses on robotic and minimally invasive surgery for kidney and upper urinary tract conditions, including kidney tumours and complex upper urinary tract surgery, as well as living- and deceased-donor kidney transplantation.

In addition to his clinical practice, A/Prof Lu is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He is Adjunct Associate Professor with the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and serves as Phase III Director, overseeing clinical education for third-year medical students. He is also Core Faculty for the NUHS Urology Residency Programme. His academic interests include surgical education, simulation, clinical outcomes and innovation in minimally invasive kidney surgery.

A/Prof Lu believes in an individualised and patient-centred approach to care. He places emphasis on helping patients understand their condition and treatment options, enabling them to participate meaningfully in decisions about their care.
