Adjunct Assistant Professor Joel Louis Lim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the National University Hospital (NUH), specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery within the Division of Sports, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. While trained in general orthopaedics, his clinical practice focuses extensively on the comprehensive management of shoulder and elbow conditions using both arthroscopic and open surgical techniques.
Dr Lim oversees more than 3,000 outpatient consultations and performs approximately 150 surgeries for shoulder and elbow conditions annually. His areas of expertise include arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation procedures, the Latarjet procedure, joint replacements and fracture fixation of the shoulder and elbow.
He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and completed his orthopaedic training at NUH. He subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery under Professor Yoo Jae Chul at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, supported by the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP).
