Biosketch

Dr Charmaine Sia obtained her medical degree from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, in 2015. She completed her Internal Medicine junior residency at the Department of Medicine, National University Health System (NUHS), where she was conferred the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2017. She subsequently completed her senior residency at NUHS and achieved Specialist Accreditation in Nephrology in 2021. Dr Sia is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
During her residency training, Dr Sia served as Chief Resident from 2018 to 2020.

Clinically, Dr Sia manages a broad spectrum of kidney diseases, with particular interests in interventional nephrology and kidney supportive care.

In parallel with her clinical work, Dr Sia has a strong academic interest in medical education. She enrolled in the medical education track during her senior residency in 2018 and attained her Centre for Medical Education (CenMED) certification in 2025. She is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore. She serves as the Undergraduate Deputy Education Director for Medicine in the NUS undergraduate Internal Medicine programme and as an Undergraduate Phase III Posting Director for the NUH Internal Medicine programme. Notably, she pioneered the integration of virtual simulation-based learning into postgraduate education across Postgraduate Year 1 and nephrology cohorts and has successfully embedded virtual simulations into Phase III undergraduate Internal Medicine education.
