Our new Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery Centre was officially opened on 5 April 2011.
Staffed by a team of 10 hand specialists, the new purpose-built Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery (HRM) Centre consolidates all hand-related services under one roof. It is a one-stop centre for all hand, wrist and upper limb conditions where our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and occupational therapists delivers comprehensive care to our patients.
The HRM Centre is equipped with facilities for our team to treat hand-related conditions. For the convenience of our patients, the consultation, fluoroscopic assessment of bone and joints of the hand, as well as ambulatory surgery are performed in one central location.
The operating suite within the HRM is equipped for the doctors to perform hand surgery and wrist surgery, with a recovery area that is under the direct supervision of our nurses. The team of hand therapists are located at the same centre to facilitate timely occupational therapy for all our patients. The centre also houses a hand and finger prosthetist for patients who want to have their prothesis customised.
The new Centre is expected to service more than 8,500 patients in 2011, up from 6,700 in 2,100.
