For over four decades, NUH has delivered excellent care through public service, education and innovation. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary this year, we reflect on how we have grown from the vision of a university hospital in Kent Ridge into a major academic medical centre. This progress is a testament to the dedication of our people and our commitment to patients from all walks of life — values that continue to be the foundation of NUH today.
Healthcare continues to evolve rapidly. With an ageing population, a shrinking workforce and rising care demands, we need to build a sustainable future, now. This means creating smarter workflows, equipping our workforce with skills to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, and embracing technology that helps us deliver safer, more precise and more efficient care. We also look at optimising physical spaces for better patient care. A prime example is the relocation of the Orthopaedic Surgery Centre, Sports Centre, the Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery Centre, and Rehabilitation Centre to Levels 18 and 19 of the Medical Centre. This consolidation of services marks a step forward in NUH’s redevelopment — a major transformation of our 40-year-old campus that will renew healthcare infrastructure, expand capacity and make way for a greener, more connected environment for even better care.
For the fourth year in a row, we are ranked among Newsweek’s Best Smart Hospitals. As part of our Great EPIC transformation campaign, nearly all our 750 clinicians have customised their digital workflows in EPIC — a software platform that enables seamless access to patient information across NUHS institutions. NUH is the first hospital in the world to implement such an initiative, which also represents one of the largest EPIC personalisation efforts globally. These enhancements reduce screen time, simplify decision-making, and support more seamless patient care.
