Dr Tang May Shuen obtained her medical degree from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2018. She was placed on the Dean's list in her second through fifth year of medical school and attained the Gordon Arthur Ransome Prize in Internal Medicine, Nestle Nutrition Institute Prize in Paediatrics and Khong Ban Tze Medal in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2018.
Upon graduation, she completed her junior residency training in Internal Medicine with the National University Health System (NUHS) and achieved the Residency Excellence Award in 2018. She attained her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2021 and Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2022. She underwent Rheumatology senior residency training with the NUHS and achieved specialist accreditation in 2025. During her training, she attained a competitive international travel grant to attend the “SLE and Lupus Nephritis – the Amsterdam Rheumatology and Immunology Center Research, Therapy and Scholarship Preceptorship Programme” in May 2023 where she learnt from international experts in the field. She has presented at various international Rheumatology conferences and achieved the Best Poster Award (Overseas Category) at the World Rheumatology Summit 2024.
Dr Tang has particular interest in systemic lupus erythematosus and provides holistic care in the quaternary lupus clinics. She is also part of the CAR-T Cell Therapy Steering Committee and Immune-Related Toxicity Team. Aside from her clinical pursuits, Dr Tang is actively involved in quality improvement and education. She will take on the role of Clinical Service Director for Division of Rheumatology and Allergy and core faculty for the Internal Medicine residency programme.
