Adult Pancreas Transplant Programme

The National Pancreas Transplant Programme has been approved as a mainstream service in 2021, with National University Hospital (NUH) appointed as the dedicated surgery site for pancreas transplants. The pancreas transplant service started as a pilot programme in 2012 in collaboration with Singapore General Hospital (SGH)’s transplant unit, under the Ministry of Health’s Health Services Development Programme.

National University Centre for Organ Transplantation (NUCOT) is Southeast Asia’s leading and only centre that performs pancreas transplants. The first Simultaneous Pancreas – Kidney (SPK) transplant in Singapore was performed by NUCOT in 2012 and we have performed 5 SPK transplants to date.

In the long term, the success rate for a pancreas transplant is over 75% after 5 years.
