About the condition

A fibroadenoma is a solid, noncancerous tumour that is common among women in their 20s and 30s. It is a firm, smooth, rubbery, or hard lump with a well-defined shape that moves easily within the breast. It is generally painless and usually found as single lump.


Causes of the condition

The development of Fibroadenoma may be due to reproductive hormones.

  • Movable
  • Firm or rubbery
  • Painless

Tests and diagnosis

  • Clinical breast exam
  • Mammography
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Fine needle aspirations
  • Core needle biopsy


A biopsy is performed to confirm the diagnosis. The lump does not need to be removed.
