Dr Wong obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 2004. He completed his Basic Specialist Training in Internal Medicine at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, Malaysia and obtained his Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2009. He then completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Renal Medicine at the National University Hospital, Singapore in 2013 and obtained specialist certification from the Specialist Accreditation Board Singapore. He completed one-year fellowship training in vascular access endovascular intervention at the Division of Vascular Surgery, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan in 2016 under the Academic Medicine Development Award. He also has obtained his Professional Certificate in Health Informatics from the National University of Singapore in 2021 under the Ministry of Health SkillsFuture Study Award for Healthcare Sector.
Dr Wong was elected as the Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2014 and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh since 2018. He was the founding Vice President of the Society of Dialysis Access Specialists (SoDAS).
Dr Wong’s clinical and research interests are in diagnostic and interventional nephrology, glomerular and genetic kidney diseases, point-of-care ultrasound in nephrology, acute kidney injury and continuous kidney replacement therapy, telemedicine, healthcare informatics and artificial intelligence in medicine.
