Terence obtained his basic medical degree from the National University of Singapore. He is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) of the United Kingdom and is an accredited Paediatric Medicine Specialist under the Singapore Medical Council. 

He has been a staff member of the Division of Paediatric Cardiology since 2004 and is also an associate staff with the Division of Critical Care and the National University Heart Centre, Singapore.

Terence was awarded the Singapore Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Fellowship in 2007 and spent 2008 and 2009 at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London, United Kingdom as a Clinical Fellow at the Department of Cardiology.

As part of the Academic Faculty (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Terence is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching in paediatrics and paediatric cardiology. He is also heavily involved in curriculum development, particularly in the field of dental undergraduate training in paediatrics.

Research wise, Terence focuses primarily on Kawasaki disease which is the most common acquired heart disease in children of the developed world. He has held Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC) level funding for research on Kawasaki disease as well as obtained grants from the National University of Singapore. His work has been published in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, the International Journal of Cardiology, Paediatric Cardiology, and Cardiology in the Young. He has been an invited reviewer for the journals HEART as well as Cardiology in the Young.

He currently sits on the Research Ethics Review Board of NUH.
