Biosketch

Dr Soumen Das De completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH) in 2013 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) in Edinburgh. He completed a clinical fellowship in hand, wrist and elbow surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York in 2014 followed by a second residency in Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery at NUH. He obtained the College of Surgeons Gold Medals for both the Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery national qualifying examinations. More recently, he developed a deeper appreciation of congenital hand surgery as a clinical fellow in Plastic Surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. 

Dr Das De has a keen interest in clinical research and obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University in 2011. He focused on quantitative research methods and collaborated on several projects with leading investigators at Children’s Hospital Boston and Massachusetts General Hospital. His current research complements his clinical interests in paediatric upper limb injuries, congenital abnormalities, neuromuscular conditions, and reconstructive microsurgery of the upper and lower limbs. He is presently the Program Director of the Singapore Hand Surgery Residency Program and is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. Dr Das De is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hand Surgery (USA). He takes consultations at both the National University Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
