Biosketch

Dr Ng Jing Yu is a consultant in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, Department of General Surgery, at National University Hospital (NUH) and Alexandra Hospital (AH). He has a keen interest in endoscopy and minimally-invasive surgery, particularly in oncological surgery. 

Dr Ng graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) in 2008. He completed his general surgery training at the Department of Surgery, NUH and was registered as an accredited specialist surgeon in 2017. He was subsequently awarded the MOH Health Manpower Development Program award and underwent advanced colorectal training at Sun Yat Sen Cancer Centre, Taiwan from 2019-2020 where he trained in robotic surgery and advanced transanal surgery for rectal cancers. 

Dr Ng has a keen interest in the education and mentoring of young surgeons. He has been awarded NUHS Teaching Excellence award on numerous occasions and was also presented with the NUS Teaching Excellence award in 2020. He is closely involved with undergraduate and post graduate surgical residency education and is a lecturer of surgery for both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU). He has also published numerous papers over the years and is an MBBS examiner for NUS.

He is currently an elected EXCO member of Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore). He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and a member of the Society for Parental and Enteral Nutrition (SingSPEN).
