Biosketch

A/Prof Loh is a Senior Consultant and current Head of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore. A/Prof Loh obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore, and started his residency in Otolaryngology in Singapore in 1998. He was then elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in January 2000. He went on to complete his residency in 2003 and continued to pursue a fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology in The Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, USA.

A/Prof Loh is trained in all aspects of paediatric otolaryngology with special interests in otological disorders, complex hearing restoration surgeries, complex airway diseases and speech disorders in children. He is a member of the Multidisciplinary Aerodigestive Team, comprising Paediatric Pulmonologists, Gastroenterologists, Speech Therapists and Paediatric Otolaryngologists, focusing on children on complex upper airway diseases. He also has extensive experience in cleft lip and palate management and works closely with the Plastic Surgery team in managing these patients.

He pioneered Sialendoscopy in the department to better manage benign salivary gland diseases and represented in Singapore in various International meeting on this subject.

A/Prof Loh is also an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore, and is involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. He is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee (Otolaryngology) under MOH and is involved in formulating the residency programme in ENT. He is the Chair of Master of Medicine (Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery) Examination Committee. 

A/Prof Loh also holds the Directorship of Centre for Hearing Science and Balance in NUH. Under his directorship are the Audiology service in NUH and the Masters of Science (Audiology) programme in NUS. 

A/Prof Loh's research area is mainly paediatric otological problem. He has held various grants over the years and collaborated with various departments in NUS in many research areas.
