Biosketch

Dr Kuan graduated from National University of Singapore in 2003 and obtained his MRCSEd (A&E) at Edinburgh in 2007. He is Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He attained the Master of Clinical Investigation under the National Research Foundation – Ministry of Health Healthcare Research Scholarship in 2011.

Dr Kuan is the department Research Director and has strong research interests in sepsis, emergency critical care and respiratory diseases. He was a recipient of the National Medical Excellence Team Award in 2014 for collaborative work with the Division of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine to reduce mortality from severe community-acquired pneumonia. He received the NMRC Transition Award in 2015 to research novel diagnostic tests for sepsis.

Dr Kuan is a Core Faculty of the NUHS Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He is a regular facilitator in the Asia-Pacific Evidence-Based Medicine and Nursing Conference, and an instructor in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support courses.
