Biosketch

Dr David Lu is an Associate Consultant in the Division of Nephrology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation, Department of Paediatrics at Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute (KTP-NUCMI). Dr Lu began his medical training at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Medical Sciences (First Class Honours) in 2013 and subsequently Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (with Distinction) in 2016. During this time, he received several academic prizes, including the Ackroyd Scholarship (2011-2015), Schuldham Plate, William Harvey Studentship for Clinical Medicine and the George Peter Baker Prize.

Dr Lu subsequently underwent further post-graduate training in Paediatrics at KTP-NUCMI, National University Hospital from 2016 to 2022 and received the Master of Medicine (Paediatric Medicine) and Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2019, before qualifying as a Paediatrician in 2023. During this time, Dr Lu also served as Assistant Chief Resident (2020-2021), and as a Clinical Tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore since 2021.

Dr Lu has been active in clinical and translational research for several years. He has received a number of prizes in recognition of this, including the IFPA YW Loke New Investigator Travel Award (2013) and the EPSE Henning Andersen Award (2017). His current interests include the immunological basis of idiopathic nephrotic syndrome, biomarkers for early chronic kidney disease, and novel therapeutics in nephrology.
