Biosketch

A/Prof Chong Choon Seng graduated from the National University of Singapore (MBBS) in 2004 and obtained his Fellowship diploma from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013. 

Awarded the Human Manpower Development Programme scholarship in 2013, he proceeded to perform minimal invasive colorectal surgery with one of the most prestigious cancer centers in South Korea, Samsung Medical Center. During this fellowship, he had the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology in colorectal cancer treatment like robotic surgery and natural orifice surgery like transanal total mesorectum excision (taTME) and dealt hundreds of patients with colorectal cancer. He is currently appointed as the representative for robotic surgery in the division of colorectal surgery in NUH. 

As the previous Director of undergraduate studies in surgery, A/Prof Chong was significantly involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He has obtained numerous awards including Best Teacher Award, NUH Excellence Teaching Award and nominated role model for students over several years. 

A/Prof Chong has published some publications namely in the field of colorectal cancers. He is also part of the editorial board for several journals. He is an invited speaker and faculty member of the ASEAN Society of Colorectal Surgeons (ASCS) which is a congregate of colorectal surgeons from many well-known regional centers in ASEAN countries.
