Biosketch

​Dr Cho obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2010 and Masters of Medicine (MMed) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2013. He underwent further training in Rheumatology at the National University Hospital and was accredited as a specialist in Rheumatology in 2018. He is currently completing a Masters in Clinical Investigation at the National University of Singapore.

Dr Cho special interest is in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). He is a member of the Asia Pacific Lupus Association, a multinational organisation of experts in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that has described the Lupus Low Disease Activity State (About us | Asia Pacific Lupus Collaboration). Dr Cho leads several clinical services, including the clinic of obstetric rheumatology that manages pregnancy and fertility issues in patients with rheumatic diseases. Dr Cho has also initiated and led Advance Care Planning in Rheumatology; a service directed to ensure that clinical care is aligned with patients’ hopes and wishes. He is also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and has obtained the basic and intermediate certificates of competence from the European Union League Against Rheumatism (EULAR).  

Dr Cho is the lead author of research and scientific papers that have been published in top international peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA), Arthritis and Rheumatology, Rheumatology (Oxford) and Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism. Dr Cho is a reviewer for Annals of Internal Medicine, Rheumatology (Oxford) and International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases. Dr Cho is also a reviewer at the ethics review board of the National Healthcare Group Domain Specific Review Board. He is the co-investigator of several international clinical trials for patients with SLE, psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Cho has covered the COVID-19 floor and attended to patients with suspected and confirmed COVID-19 infection. He has furthered research and academic work in COVID-19 by leading a multidisciplinary systematic review on extrapulmonary manifestations of COVID-19. He has also described COVID-19 infection in among SLE patients in a large international cohort and co-authored the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR) COVID-19 Guidelines.
