Biosketch

Dr Bernard Lau is a specialist board-accredited Orthopaedic surgeon subspecializing in foot and ankle surgery, joint replacement and sports injuries. Dr Lau's clinical practice consists of all aspects of foot and ankle surgery such as bunion surgery, chronic ankle instability, arthritis and fractures. In addition, he performs knee replacement, arthroscopic (key hole) surgeries of the knee including sports injuries and meniscus/ligament reconstruction and general orthopaedic cases.

Dr Lau obtained his basic medical qualifications from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2005. He then underwent post-graduate training in Orthopaedic surgery at National University Hospital System (NUHS) residency program. Upon completion of his residency, he was then admitted as a fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

Dr Lau is currently a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at the National University Hospital System and practices both at National University Hospital and Alexandra hospital. He is a member of the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the Division of Hip and Knee Surgery. He is also a clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. Dr Lau maintains a strong interest in teaching and research, and has published numerous articles in both local and international peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented at local, regional and international conferences such as the prestigious American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies (IFFAS).  

On a personal front, Dr Lau has been blessed with a beautiful family and his favourite past time is spending time with his children.
