Medisave

During admission, the patient needs to indicate the desired payment type to settle his or her hospital bills. Payment can either be made through the Medisave Account, by the patient's company or insurance company or via self-payment. Please inform our admission staff if you intend to use Medisave to pay for your hospital bill and kindly bring along your NRIC or CPF Membership Card.

If you are paying a hospital bill for your family member, please also produce documentary proof of the patient's relation to you. Deduction from more than one nominated Medisave Accounts is also allowed. You will also need to sign a Medisave Authorisation Form authorising the CPF Board to deduct from your Medisave Account to pay for the hospital bill.

For more information on Medisave withdrawal limits for inpatient, day surgery and maternity bills, please visit the MOH website. There is also a withdrawal limit on the use of Medisave for selected outpatient treatments, eg. renal dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.

MediShield Life

*MediShield Life replaced MediShield from 1 Nov 2015, and offers:

Better protection and higher payouts, so that patients pay less Medisave / cash for large hospital bills?
Protection for All Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, including the very old and those with pre-existing illnesses.

MediShield Life is a basic health insurance, administered by the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, which helps to pay for large hospital bills and selected costly outpatient treatments, such as dialysis and chemotherapy for cancer.

MediShield Life coverage is sized for subsidised treatment in public hospitals. Those who choose to stay in a Class A/B1 ward or in a private hospital are also covered by MediShield Life. However, as MediShield Life payouts are pegged at Class B2/C wards, the MediShield Life payout will make up a small proportion of the bill only. The patient may therefore need to pay more of their bill from Medisave and/or cash.

*Information taken from the Ministry of Health (MOH). For more information on MediShield Life benefits and how MediShield Life claims work, please visit the MOH Medishield Life web page.

Refund

All excess payment will be refunded after the outstanding hospital bill is completely settled. The refund will be ready approximately one month after the final bill. The refund will be sent in the form of cheque.
