6th Wong Hock Boon Paediatric Masterclass

The Department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital, is proud to present the 6th Wong Hock Boon Paediatric Masterclass from 25 - 27 Aug 2017.

Held annually since 2011, this event focuses on general and sub-specialty paediatrics, continuing in the long tradition of excellent teaching from the department and honouring the legacy of our founding professor, Emeritus Professor Wong Hock Boon.

This year’s Wong Hock Boon professors - invited speakers of international standing - are from the disciplines of Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Haematology and will be joined by the department’s own clinicians who will be speaking in their respective fields. The event has become a key platform for local and regional healthcare professionals to connect and share updates in the field of paediatrics.

In addition, we will be organising a Pre-Masterclass workshop - ‘Practical Pulmonology For The Community Practitioner’. This is an interactive workshop that will provide the latest on relevant topics in Paediatric Pulmonology including Sleep and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and control of common ailments like Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis.

The well-received Paediatric Secrets session on Saturday morning will comprise a series of case-based interactive teaching sessions designed especially for students and residents. Each session will provide clinical pearls and approaches to common diagnoses relevant to the various disciplines.

For the first time, we will also be having a Nursing Symposium targeted at nursing professionals and intended to provide a platform to discuss the current roles and challenges of Advanced Nursing Practitioner care in the discipline.

Following the positive feedback of last year’s inaugural debate, we are proud to present the second installation on Sunday morning. The debate will see two clinicians pit their skills and clinical know-how against one another in an important child-relevant topic, making for an engaging and entertaining session.

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to this year’s Wong Hock Boon Paediatric Masterclass!
