NCIS Grand Rounds - Robotic Surgery in Gynaecological Cancer: A Brief History of Time

The surgical management of gynaecological cancers has undergone a remarkable transformation, with minimally invasive surgery reshaping the approach to complex cancer procedures.

From the early development of laparoscopy to the emergence of robotic-assisted platforms, advances in technology have expanded the possibilities for precision, visualisation, and surgical control.

This session will trace the evolution of minimally invasive surgery in gynaecological oncology and the key milestones that shaped its adoption. The focus will then turn to the evidence behind robotic surgery, exploring what current data tells us about its clinical benefits, limitations, and role in contemporary cancer care.

Discussions will explore the future of surgical oncology, considering how emerging technologies and innovations may further transform cancer surgery while keeping patient outcomes at the centre.

Through this journey from THEN, to NOW, to TOMORROW, Robotic Surgery in Gynaecological Cancer: A Brief History of Time will examine where robotic surgery has come from, what the evidence tells us today, and where the future may take us.
