HEH Lunchtime Talk: Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Teoh Chieu Leng
Assistant Nurse Clinician
Department of Nursing

Synopsis

“Why prick, when you can scan?”

Traditionally, people with diabetes prick their finger several times a day to check their blood glucose levels.

With the new continuous glucose monitoring method, a small sensor is placed just under the skin and it measures the glucose ‘continuously’ for up to 14 days, without the need to prick the finger. This allows the people with diabetes to better understand the impact of food, exercise and medication on their blood glucose levels.

The speaker will introduce this new method and share on its pros and cons.
