Wellness Centre

Early detection of diseases through regular health screening can make a major impact on the effectiveness and cost of treatment later on. As such, regular medical check-up is an important element of healthy living.

The NUH Wellness Centre is a one-stop health screening centre that caters to all your health screening needs. Our dedicated team of medical professionals will help you better understand your health condition and risks, if any. We will also work closely with you to modify your lifestyle when necessary. Through result analysis and health education, we aim to provide you with relevant knowledge to add many healthy years to your life!

At our Wellness Centre, we offer a range of health screening packages that enable early detection of common chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, hypertension and diabetes.

Health Screening

Health Screening helps to discover if a person is suffering from a particular disease, even if he or she does not have any symptoms. If a disease is discovered early through screening, the person can receive treatment early and avoid complications, suffering or even death.

A health screening consists of tests like blood or urine tests, X-rays and ultrasounds. It is usually done at regular intervals (e.g. once a year or, once in two to three years) or when a person reaches a certain age. We would advise that you get a test for a particular disease if you have an immediate family member who has the same disease or medical condition.

If you are over the age of 40, you may wish to consult your doctor about health screening.

Depending on the package you choose, your health screening will be conducted over 1 (ONE) or 1.5 (ONE and a HALF) days and includes the following:

Comprehensive Medical History & Physical Examination
- Present complaints (if any)
- Full history taking including past medical, family, social & drug history
- Review of entire body system

Biometrics Parameters
- Blood Pressure
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Height & Weight
- Visual Acuity

Medical Review & Counselling
- Discussion and interpretation of physical findings and laboratory results
- Recommendations and health education by our Doctor
- Medical follow-up and direct referrals to other specialists' services within NUH (if necessary)

Travel Screening & Vaccination

Safeguard your health by taking the necessary travel precautions before your trip can make all the difference. At the Travellers' Screening & Vaccination Clinic, we provide you with pre-travel health counselling along with any immunisations or medications needed so that you can travel in good health and with a peace of mind.

In addition to medical advice on the dangers of travel related infections and diseases, high-risk travellers (for instance, pregnant women, the elderly and patients with medical conditions such as asthma, hypertension and diabetes) can seek health advice that is specific to their condition.

A broad range of travel immunisations are available at the clinic. Medications are prescribed for the prevention of malaria and treatment of travel-associated diarrhoea. Vaccinations are also available to non-travellers who prefer to be immunised for various health reasons.

Pre-Travel Advice and Vaccination

During your consultation, our clinic staff will give you the required vaccine(s) and provide important information to help you stay healthy while you are away and after you have returned home. You will also be educated on the safe consumption of food and beverages, how to protect yourself from disease-carrying insects and how to prevent and treat minor illnesses while you are overseas.

Vaccinations are tailored to suit individual needs and you will be assessed on your medical condition, allergy history and activities before any recommendation can be made. You are advised to have your vaccination at least two weeks prior to your departure.
