2011

  • Opening of the Centre for Reproductive Education and Specialist Training (CREST), with Minister for Health, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, on 21 Mar. It is Asia Pacific's First Dedicated Fertility Training Centre.

  • Opening of the Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery (HRM) Centre on 5 Apr (Asia's Largest Dedicated HRM Centre)

  • Opening Of the National University Heart Centre, Singapore, on 21 Apr by Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

  • Accreditation of NUH Department of Pathology by the Accreditation Committee of The College of American Pathologists (CAP) in May 2011.
    (An international recognition of the excellence in services provided and the organisation’s commitment to quality and patient safety.)

  • Achieve the HIMSS Stage Six Hospital status in June (one of the four Singapore hospitals and one of the first public healthcare institutions in the Asia Pacific region to achieve the HIMSS Stage 6 Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model award presented by *HIMSS Analytics).

  • NUH partnered GP group Frontier Healthcare, under a two-year pilot program, to provide diabetes follow up care at same rates at the GPs.

  • ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 re-certified on 25 Aug.

  • Co-developed the Master And Slave Transluminal Endoscopic Robot (MASTER) with NTU. MASTER enables the scarless removal of tumors in the stomach through the patient's mouth.
