Veneers are thin custom-made shells made of tooth colored materials such as ceramic or composite. They are placed over a damaged tooth surface to improve the aesthetics of the tooth and/or to protect the remaining tooth surface. Composite veneers may be built up directly in the mouth or indirectly fabricated in the dental laboratory.
