Viva-University Children's Cancer Centre (VUC3)
Contact Details

VUC3 has three main sections:
1) Outpatient Consultation Clinics
Dedicated solely to children with cancer blood diseases, the three outpatient clinics help to minimise the risk of possible infections from other children with cough and cold. Parents are also able to support one another through discussions in comfortable waiting areas.

Point-of-care-tests (POCT) for full blood count and Pharmacy on-site
Patients no longer need to go through long waits for their Full Blood Count (FBC) results. 2 full-time trained haematology technicians are available to run the FBC on the spot and upload the results into our real time computerised patient care system within a mere 15 minutes. After consultation, chemotherapy orders are reconstituted fresh in the on-site Pharmacy to be administered in the Day Therapy Centre. Medications are also  dispensed on-site by dedicated oncology pharmacists.

2) Day Therapy Centre
Opening hours: 8.00am to 8.00pm (Mon – Fri)
The spacious Day Therapy Centre has 9 beds with televisions for patients to receive their chemotherapy comfortably. There is a dedicated general anaesthesia procedure room with complete monitoring facilities to minimise potential distress to the children. Parents can catch up with their e-mails and reading on their own laptop as the whole centre is WIFI Internet-enabled. The Day Therapy Centre allows the majority of our chemotherapy to be administered as outpatient cases.

3) Inpatient Centre
The Inpatient Centre has 17 beds with 5 stem cell transplant rooms and 3 isolation rooms. The isolation rooms are specially designed with infection prevention in mind, with dedicated negative pressure and double door isolation.

Each bed has a mounted television for entertainment and computer games. Broadband internet access, lounges and chairs which can be converted into overnight beds and kitchen facilities are also available to patients’ caregivers. A prayer room is also accessible to those who may need it.

The social workers from the Children Cancer Foundation run an on-site library and resource room where patients and their parents can borrow clean toys and books to keep themselves occupied. Dedicated play areas for children are available in various sections of the Centre.

Stem Cell Transplantation Suite
The stem cell transplantation suite comprises 5 individually High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA)-filtered positive pressure rooms with a dedicated HEPA-filtered exercise corridor, motion-activated double-door, play area and nursing counter.

Severely immunocompromised children undergoing stem cell transplantation no longer need to be strictly confined to their own rooms but will be able to mobilise, exercise and play in the comfort of an exceedingly clean environment.

Parents can interact with and support one another during the period of transplantation. A treadmill and an exercise bicycle are available to parents or patients keen to work up a sweat.
