Signs & Symptoms

Initially there are usually blisters which break down to form scars with a “golden-yellow” crust on the surface for patients suffering from Impetigo.

What causes it

Impetigo can be passed by close contact or by sharing of towels or toys. It can be spread to other parts of the body by scratching.

About the condition

Impetigo is an acute bacterial infection of the skin and is commonly seen in pre-school children.

Diagnosis and Treatment Options

Topical antibiotics for mild lesions and oral antibiotics for all other lesions are the treatments of choice for impetigo.
