The University Children's Medical Institute (UCMI) is committed to paediatric research in the fields of genetics, nephrology, endocrinology, asthma and allergy, and neonatology. With the numerous subspecialties in paediatrics, there continues to be a significant scope for research at the UCMI. Research programmes are undertaken only if ethical approval has been granted. In addition, no patient is enlisted into a research programme without their consent. Patients' treatment will not be affected if they prefer not to participate in research programmes.
