Greetings from Singapore!
Asia has one-third of the world’s land area, but its population is closer to two-thirds of the world’s total, a large proportion of whom are children. The number of Asian children afflicted with kidney diseases is therefore enormous.
Paediatric Nephrology is a rapidly growing subspecialty in Asia. Over the past decade, advances in this field have made a significant impact on the quality of paediatric health care in many countries.
This interactive course aims to bring the latest scientific updates and technological developments in the field, not only to established paediatric nephrologists, but also to paediatricians caring for children with kidney disease, as well as trainees in paediatrics and paediatric nephrology.
The syllabus is extensive, ranging from basic paediatric nephrology to the principles of dialysis and transplantation in children.
The explosion in knowledge accompanying the Human Genome Project has also improved our understanding of many paediatric renal diseases. Thus this course will also attempt to bridge the gap from bench to bedside. In addition, there will be a dialysis workshop with interactive stations for small group participation.
With a Faculty that includes well-known international speakers from North America, Europe and Asia, we are confident this course will not only provide interesting interactive learning experiences, but also ample networking opportunities.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to extend a warm invite to all of you to attend this intensive interactive course, “Primer in Paediatric Nephrology for Asia”.
Looking forward to welcoming you in Singapore!
Warmest regards, Professor Yap Hui Kim
