THE CAP Fund

The Children's Aid Programme (CAP) Fund, is one of the major programmes under the "NUHS Fund Limited" (a registered charity in Singapore). It is the charity of the University Children's Medical Institute (UCMI) at the National University Hospital (NUH).
The CAP fund seeks to provide financial assistance to young needy sick patients of UCMI so as to enable them to continue with medical treatment and improve or maintain their health, and since its incorporation in 1990, CAP Fund has been an important source of funding for the treatment of needy sick children in NUH.
The CAP Fund is independently audited by the institution's finance team as well as an external certified public accountant.
What is the money collected used for?
The CAP Fund helps needy patients in the payment of medical treatment in UCMI* which includes:
- Medical Equipment (e.g. renal dialysis equipment, oxygen concentrators, home ventilator machines, feeding pumps)
- Consumables (e.g. medication, special dietary supplements, feeding tubes)
- Tests/Investigations (e.g. genetic testing, metabolic testing, xrays, blood tests)
* unless treatment is unavailable in UCMI but available in other local hospitals
Who manages the CAP Fund?
12 individuals (comprising 7 doctors, 2 nurses, 2 medical social workers from UCMI, and 1 representative not from UCMI) form the management committee of the CAP fund.
The chairman of the fund is UCMI's senior consultant A/Prof Denise Goh Li Meng
How much money of the collection goes to patients?
Every dollar received by the CAP Fund is channeled directly to patients' medical-related expenses.
Are donations to CAP Fund tax-deductible?
Donations to the CAP fund are tax-deductible.
How to donate to CAP Fund?
Donations can be made to the CAP fund in the following ways

There are currently two CAP Wells onsite at NUH where staff and visitors can contribute to the fund. One is located at Lobby B in the Main Building of NUH, and the other is located in the main lobby of the Kent Ridge Wing of NUH. |
Monetary donations of S$10,000 and above will be acknowledged on our Roll-of-Honour Board at the NUH.
