We manage chronic and potentially severe conditions such as the immunodeficiencies, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus, the various forms of scleroderma, as well as other rare rheumatic and immunological conditions of childhood.

The scope of the service includes:

Paediatric Rheumatology Clinics
Paediatricians with special training in Rheumatology run dedicated Rheumatology Clinics on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. We offer diagnostic services for children with fevers or joint pain of unclear cause. We also provide long term management of common rheumatic diseases such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis and childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus. We manage both the acute and chronic aspects of paediatric rheumatic disease, including medication regimens, special attention to growth and development, and referrals to physical and occupational therapy when needed. We work closely with other Paediatric consultants in Paediatric Nephrology and Ophthalmology to provide complete case in chronic disease.

Immunology Tests

We perform tests for rheumatological conditions as well as immunodeficiencies. This includes determination of HLA-B27 status, measuring immunoglobulin levels, IgG subsets, T cell subsets, T cell proliferation and tests for other rare immunodeficiencies.
